Congressman Dennis Kucinich is, in my view, the most likely Democratic Candidate for Vice President. Why? Because he comes from Ohio, which is the critical swing state between the Reds and the Blues. And, he richly deserves to be on the ticket. His message is clear eyed and uncompromising! He may well be a great President some day, but his route to the Oval Office is likely through the Naval Observatory.
Mr. Kucinich understands that neither party has controlled a national election, in the past decade, without winning a majority of the votes of Muslim Americans. In 2000, President Bush won this vote because Al Gore had Joe Lieberman on his ticket, and Muslims feared he would be too pro-Israel. Little did they know that the power of AIPAC means that every American national politician is under the financial gun of AIPAC. Just ask former Congressman Paul Finley! Who can doubt that the 6,800 votes, which put Senator Jim Webb over the top in Northern Virginia in Election 2006, thereby giving Democrats the majority in the Senate, came from Muslim Americans?
Most national politicians have failed to notice this phenomenon, but Mr. Kucinich definitely gets it.
One June 8, 2007, I videotaped the talks of a number of Presidential candidates to the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee in Washington. Mr. Kucinich's talk can be heard in the "On Demand" stream of The Words Matter Radio Network. Mr. Finley's remarks are also available there, near the bottom of the list of speakers.
